EXCHANGES OF GOOD WASTE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

Experts from Municipalities in district Burgas participated in a forum for exchange of ideas and good practices in the field of waste management. It was also attended by experts from the INTERREG Europe Policy Recommendations Platform.

The forum was held online within two days. During the working sessions the accumulated experience in the field of waste management was shared in order to improve the system for separate collection, recycling and reuse in Burgas and the region.

The evaluation of the current system was carried out by foreign experts, and concrete proposals for its improvement were made, based on the presented successful practices from Austria, Portugal and Spain.

During the first session, waste prevention practices were discussed, including control mechanisms, as well as ways to deal with specific types of waste and widespread waste.

In the second part of the forum, recommendations were made to improve a systematic approach to waste management, which in todays world is becoming an increasingly pressing problem that requires adequate solutions.

On the Bulgarian side in the online session took part representatives of the municipalities of Burgas, Karnobat, Pomorie, Malko Tarnovo and Sredets, RIEW - Burgas and Haskovo, as well as Nelsen - Chistota EOOD and OP Chistota - Eco.
