Only this weekwas given double bonus points for the transferred quantities in the Mobile Centers
The European Waste Reduction Week (EWRW) was held from 21 to 29 November. The theme for 2020 is "My actions to reduce waste".
The idea of the European Week is to promote the concept of waste prevention by coordinating activities carried out by public institutions or local authorities, associations, NGOs and European networks, businesses, schools, etc., aimed at different target audiences.
EWRW wants to raise awareness of waste prevention and reduction policies in the EU and its Member States, to encourage and motivate as many people as possible to take action leading to change, to show the direct impact of consumption on climate change and the environment, to emphasize the links between waste reduction and sustainable development.
The Municipality of Burgas is participating in the celebration of the European Waste Reduction Week with three actions:
"Lets reduce the office waste!" - the initiative is aimed at office workers. Give priority to e-mail communication instead of using postal and courier services. Print only the pages you really need and use the sheets on both sides. Use a reusable cup for your tea or coffee in the office. In this way you can reduce the generation of plastic waste.Do not throw away used office paper, but use draft sheets and more. Choose office supplies, giving priority to reusable stationery that is recycled or made from recyclable materials and products. Consider providing old electronic equipment to recycling companies that can givea second life to it. During the week, offices and households can submit applications for delivery of this type of waste to the partner of the Municipality of Burgas "Eltechresource" AD on tel. 0886 22 99 56.
"Lets collect waste separately!" - the initiative is aimed at the widest possible audience. The main emphasis is on the importance of separate collection of household waste. There are 19 Mobile Centers for separate waste collection on the territory of the city. As part of the initiative, double bonus points will be awarded for all separately transferred quantities. The collected waste will be subsequently disposed of - this will ensure its proper treatment and avoid environmental pollution.
"To hand over my old clothes!" - the initiative aims to draw the attention of the general public to the importance of separate collection of textile waste from households. In the city of Burgas, stationary textile containers are located next to each Mobile Center, where textile waste can be disposed of. The municipality urges anyone who has “detoxed” their wardrobe to use clothes containers or mobile centers.
